Panel Discussions on Global Events

Panel Discussions on Global Events

Practice: 6th Grade, Lesson: Science, Unit: “Matter and Heat”. In this unit, students scan resources together with their group mates. Details of such resources are available at [https://spark.adobe.com/page/UtZFZhC700ybA/]. They do so at the library with a focus on the main topics of fossil fuels, renewable energy resources, greenhouse effect, global warming and the research questions underscoring the same; collect up-to-date, valid and reliable information about these topics; and create their own webpages. At the end of the library activity, each group creates questions in order to ask other groups. They are then addressed to be posed in a panel and shared with all groups before the panel. During the panels, a moderator (teacher) manages time. Each group is given equal time, holding their panels on their respective topics and answering the questions directed. If it is not a schoolwide activity, it takes places across a class/grade, if possible.
