HaFu-Being Half

HaFu-Being Half

Practice: Students are first presented with concepts such as prejudice, discrimination, racism and sexism. Then these concepts are discussed and questioned. In the subsequent phase, students are divided into groups. Tennis player Naomi Osaka’s interviews and videos in the media on the discrimination she experienced in sports competitions and in her daily life are presented to the students. Groups review media texts and videos given to them. Each group prepares three questions for discussion based on their media content. Then, the groups are matched with each other to answer the other group’s questions and write a short manifesto of their own by reflecting on the subject. At the final stage, each group reads their manifesto in the classroom and the activity is concluded after a general assessment.
