Selin’s Story

Practice: The purpose of the activity is explained to the students. The pre-set case studies (ANNEX 8) are read and students are asked to complete them. Interaction is initiated with questions such as: “What were the communication-related things in both cases?”, “What did you recognize when you completed the cases?”, “Which case do you think was useful?”.

Case 1: Selin went to visit her friend Deniz on Saturday. Mert would also be there so they would both study and have fun together. First, they ate cakes and cookies that Deniz’s mother baked. Meanwhile, Selin did not engage in any conversation. However, Mert was constantly making jokes on Selin. Deniz, on the other hand, was not interested in them at all, while constantly talking about something. When Selin started to tell something, she also did not listen to her. So, she stopped talking. But they had actually come together to have fun. Such things have happened that……………………………………………

Case 2: Selin went to visit her friend Deniz on Saturday. Mert would also be there so they would both study and have fun together. First, they were constantly making jokes together and laughing all the time. Meanwhile, Selin started to tell an incident she had experienced. Deniz and Mert stopped laughing and started to listen to what Selin was telling. When Selin noticed that her friends were interested in her, she started to tell the things she hadn’t originally considered telling. They came together to study and have fun.
