Warm Wishes

Warm Wishes

Practice: If the activity takes place in the classroom, have students get into pairs. If it is performed with family members, people get into pair in this case, as well. Tell students/your child that they will be sending kind wishes to themselves and to others. Please give the following instructions:
“You may keep your eyes closed or open. Find a comfortable position. You may want to try to sit up tall or sit back. Take a deep breath in and a slow breath out. Think of one kind wish to send to yourself. It could be sending yourself peace, love, courage, hope, or luck. Breathe the kind wish deep into your heart as you think of it and slowly breathe out. You can open your eyes after a few deep breaths.”

“Now you can face your partner/buddy. You can sit knee to knee and look into each other’s eyes, or just sit across from each other while you focus on the floor. Take a moment to think of one kind wish to say to each other. Then share it with each other.”

“Take a moment with your partner/buddy and think of a warm wish to send to a person who could use a bit of love. This could be a grandparent or a teacher or it can be someone in need. If you are in a classroom, raise your hand to share your kind wish with the group. If you perform this activity with family members, you can write your kind wishes down on a paper, which you can scan to think about the ones you can make happen.”
