SMART SMART Goal Setting and Planning Activities
Practice:
1st Session: Therapeutic cards are spread on a desk and students are asked to select one card that represents their current academic and social standing. Once the selection is made, they place their cards on a template and write a paragraph below to explain their situation. They then are asked to select another card that represents their academic and social goals. Students proceed with the same procedures after selecting these cards, too. Volunteering students are asked to summarize and share all of these with their friends.
2nd Session: Students are handed out the templates they have prepared in the previous session. SMART goal is introduced through a presentation. The subject is reinforced with examples. Students are asked to write their own SMART goals once again. They are also asked to create a plan by using the Planning template to reach that goal.
