What Are Ethical Responsibilities?

Socio-emotional learning includes such skills as understanding and controlling feelings, setting and working towards positive goals, empathizing with others, developing positive interpersonal relationships, and making responsible.

Making responsible decisions, as a set of skills for socio-emotional learning, entails making positive and constructive decisions as to how to behave by observing with social norms, alongside ethical standards.

From small, everyday choices to larger and more consequential ones, we face a myriad of decisions. As adults, how do we decide to do the right thing, or even what “the right thing” is? Ethical responsibilities include noticing and identifying problems; understanding the different aspects (e.g., moral, social, emotional, practical) of challenging situations; realistically evaluating the potential consequences of various actions; considering the well-being of both oneself and others; balancing individual interests with the greater good; valuing ethical/moral principles, such as justice, fairness, and the rights and welfare of all people; applying ethical standards to personal and social behavior; recognizing the role of emotions in decision-making and integrating them with other concerns; solving problems in intentional and appropriate ways; reflecting on one’s own actions. Why Is It Important?

Ethical responsibilities actually require following our own core values. What are our resources to decide what matters the most or what is the right behavior in life? Before answering this, one must have an overall view of values. Your values are what you believe are important for your life and work. They determine your priorities as a set of schemes you use to probably figure out whether your life is how you like it to be or not. When what you do and how you behave match with your values, you usually have better satisfaction with your life. However, when they do not match with your personal or core social values, things then change. This might be a real cause of unhappiness. Therefore, it is critical to strive consciously towards determining your values.
