What Is Growth Mindset?
Our mindset is the most important factor that influences our lives. It can be classified under two categories: People with a fixed mindset vs. growth mindset. Those with a fixed mindset are not open to learning and improvement, whereas those with a growth use each and every opportunity to improve themselves.
A growth mindset is based on the fact that people’s talents can be developed. It is built upon the understanding that we have the skills and agency to interpret the events and facts that we encounter, and develop an attitude for them. Growth mindset clearly defines what success or failure would mean to us when it happens. This is because we owe our success to developing the right attitude, not to being intelligent. On the other hand, failure is also a part of the development process. What matters the most here is what we learn and the attitude we demonstrate when we face failure.
It is important to ask oneself the right questions when it comes to the Growth Mindset.
- What should I do and how much should I work to succeed?
- How can I eliminate my deficiencies if I fail to reach my goals despite working towards them?
- How do I start again by using my learnings if I do not get the desired outcome?
Why Is It Important?
Those with a growth mindset learn to accept criticism. This helps them build the strategies that assist them in learning from experiences and improving their weaknesses. They are aware that they will find a better way by working hard even when they make a mistake.
